A FREE 4th of July "We Are Family" Picnic

SAN FRANCISCO. CA. June 7, 2004. For the seventh year in a row, Yerba Buena Gardens is proudly hosting the annual 4th of July "We are Family" Picnic, with loads of wild, wacky, and fun-filled entertainment for kids and families. The event, which draws several thousand people to the gardens, is an opportunity for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) individuals in couples and families to celebrate 4th of July together and each other. The Picnic, which is presented by Yerba Buena Arts & Events, is part of the 2004 Yerba Buena Gardens Festival.
The Fourth of July "We Are Family" Picnic is one of San Francisco's most unique family traditions!" says Linda Lucero, Interim Director of Yerba Buena Arts & Events. "The day is about celebrating America's true family values of love, laughter, support, and sharing."
This year's picnic features: The San Francisco Lesbian/Gay Freedom Band, Dixieland Dykes+3, Heather Gold, Jackie Jones and Her Tap Dancing Cat, Derique, the Electric Clown, Sister Kitty Catalyst, Kid Karaoke & Animal Call Contests, zany prizes, discounts, and much more.
The picnic is co-sponsored by the Jon Sims Center for the Arts, COLAGE, LYRIC, PFLAG, and the Yerba Buena Ice Skating and Bowling Center.
Free artistic and cultural programming in Yerba Buena Gardens is made possible through the generous support of The San Francisco Arts Commission, The San Francisco Redevelopment Agency, the National Endowment for the Arts, MJM Management Group, The San Francisco Foundation, the W.A. Gerbode Foundation, the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, the Zellerbach Family Foundation, the Fleishhacker Foundation, Bernard Osher Foundation, the Walter and Elise Haas Fund, and other sponsors.
