e-News December 2009

Dear Friend of Yerba Buena Gardens:

The 2009 season of the Yerba Buena Gardens Festival has drawn to a close, and with it, another amazing year of first-class, free performing arts programs for the whole family.

Please consider becoming a sponsor of the Yerba Buena Gardens Festival for the 2010 Season. Your tax-deductible contribution will be deeply appreciated, and will help us to continue delivering the same high-quality performing arts programs that you have come to love and expect from the Yerba Buena Gardens Festival.

In 2009, the Yerba Buena Gardens Festival produced its most successful season ever – presenting more than 90 programs to almost 139,000 people. In spite of the recession, more artists were hired than ever before including the megawatt Na Lei Hulu Dance Company, the superb Circus Bella and the thrilling Francisco Aguabella Latin Jazz Ensemble. More than 1,400 performers from over 200 ensembles appeared on our Festival stages.

And because every event is free, we rely on the support of generous individuals like you to help us maintain the high standard of excellence which has made our Festival a huge success year in and year out.

We thank you for your continued support, and look forward to seeing you in the Gardens again in 2010. We promise it will be our best ever!

Wishing you music, dance, laughter and love during the holidays and throughout 2010!

Parol Lantern Festival
Saturday, December 12, 3–8:00pm, Jessie Square
The Parol is the quintessential Filipino symbol of hope, blessings, luck, peace and light during the holiday season. It begins in October with a three-month-long series of parol-making workshops, producing hundreds of lanterns that are displayed during the parade, as well as the festival program in Yerba Buena Gardens. The workshops are held at the Bayanihan Community Center and at other participating sites in San Francisco and the Bay Area.
